Statement of faith
Bloomsburg Christian Church is a "non-denominational"
church. This means,
" We identify ourselves
as 'Christians only' while recognizing we are not the only Christians.
Our desire is to follow the Great Commandment - to love God and love each
other (Matthew 22:34-40), and to engage in the Great Commission - to share
the Good News of Jesus Christ with those around us (Matthew 28:18-20).
" We use the New Testament model of
church leadership - we are led by leaders nominated and elected from within
our own church body called Elders, not an outside denominational office,
man-made leadership hierarchy or headquarters (diocese, synod, charge,
etc.).
" We believe every
Christian is on a journey that continues throughout their physical lives
to find the fullness and freedom of life that we each desire that can
only be found through God. We continuously desire to be more like Christ,
and more in tune with God's will for our lives so that in our actions,
words and deeds the world sees God through us. We believe that the Holy
Bible - the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New
Testament - is the only book that is essential to understanding and living
a Christian life.
We believe there are foundational understandings
an individual must have to allow them to engage in this journey and
to guide them as they continue on it. They are listed below.
